A Farm-to-Table Experience
Jay Sinclair, originally from Southern Saskatchewan moved to the Vermilion area in 1994. He purchased the farm that him and Kyra now live on 2 Miles North of Vermilion, AB in 2001. Jay then started his Cow Herd from a set of Black Angus cows. There are now a total of 80 cow calf pairs on the farm.
Kyra was born and raised in Southern Ontario, moving out to Saskatchewan to attend the University of Saskatchewan where she found her love for agriculture. Her studies majored in care and nutrition of various livestock, her favourite always being cattle. She runs an Independent Agronomic Consulting company helping farmers and ranchers to increase their profits on a yearly basis.
Kyra and Jay share their passion for raising good cattle and work together to increase the quality of animals that they have on farm. Together they have two dogs (Whiskey and Remi), two Sheep (Clarence and Parnell) and three horses (Lace, Rip and Hurk) which help with various ranching tasks. All animals that come to Black Copper Farms are raised and cared for with love.
In hopes to provide a more intimate and educated beef purchasing experience for the consumer, Jay and Kyra decided to offer beef packages straight from their farm so that their customers could share in their passion for raising their animals.
They can feel safe in knowing the animals were cared for through their life and humanly harvested before reaching their home. Their overall goal is to provide their customers with the highest quality meat while educating the consumer on the best ways to prepare their products from farm to fork. They thoroughly enjoy providing a direct connection with their customers and the positive contribution Black Copper Farms has made to their family meals.
